He noted that although he supported the calls for sanction, the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, should be allowed to finish his job first, adding that, sacking him now could create bigger problems.
The former Ogun State Governor, spoke on Saturday, at his house, in the Sagamu, GRA, Sagamu, Ogun State.
“The International Observers, some of them have been here for the last two weeks, what do you want them to do? It is really not a good day for politics in Nigeria and in Africa.
“Definitely, there is no smoke without fire. Yes, INEC is supposed to be independent, but they have appointed Officers, and there are people who confirm the appointment. Definitely, this appears to be the voice of Jacob, but the hand of Esau.
“Nigerians will not give room for foul play. But we should place them on notice, that this is not about an election between individuals. It is between INEC and Nigerians. INEC must be loyal to Nigerians.
“It may not be easy for the INEC Chairman to resign, except we want to create a bigger problem. If the election is next week, and you ask him to resign, there will be problems. We should ask him to conduct the elections first, before we talk about sanctions.”
