The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, confirmed the decision to hold the meeting, on Monday.
“Yes, the NEC will meet on Tuesday, at the National Secretariat of the party. We will meet at noon”, he said.
It was gathered that the meeting will discuss issues related to the postponement of last Saturday’s elections.
It is also expected to analyse the speech of President Muhammadu Buhari, today, at the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Caucus meeting, which took place in Abuja, on Monday.
Apart from the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, Governors elected on the platform of the party, its National Officers, Principal Officers of the National Assembly, who are members of the former ruling party, are among those expected at the meeting.
The PDP was reacting to a statement credited to Buhari’s threat to those planning to hijack ballot boxes and disrupt the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.
At a caucas meeting of the APC in Abuja on Monday, President Buhari said: “Anybody who decides to snatch ballot boxes or lead thugs to disturb the election, maybe that would be the last unlawful action he would take… I have directed the police and the military to be ruthless.”
