UNITED END MORATA CHASE AFTER AGREEING LUKAKU FEE – REPORTS

Manchester United have ended their interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata after agreeing a fee with Everton for Romelu Lukaku.

United have courted Morata for most of the summer, with the glut of information on the supposedly imminent deal lowering our attention spans.

That is no longer an issue, for James Ducker of the Daily Telegraph, among other journalists, are reporting that the club have agreed a £75million fee with Everton for Lukaku.

The Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, Sky Sports and Manchester Evening News are all reporting that the deal for Lukaku to move to Old Trafford could go through before the club fly out for their pre-season tour of the United States on Sunday.

The 24-year-old appeared set to rejoin former club Chelsea this summer but it is understood he is now on the verge of linking up with the manager that sold him in 2014.

United boss Jose Mourinho has been desperate to bring in a striker this summer and a move for Lukaku is now close, having agreed a fee in the region of £75million with Everton.

United captain Wayne Rooney looks increasingly unlikely to be on the plane this Sunday, with a return to boyhood club Everton edging closer – a move that is not understood to be connected to the Lukaku deal.
